Your note fills me with joy. Isn't it amazing to reconnect all these years later? I'm so pleased that the little Russian bowl was passed along from your father to you - and that it has been decorating your dining table (and feeding people nuts and crackers!) all this time. The story behind the bowl is that for a year I travelled around the U.S. with an exhibit of Russian art. I managed the shop that accompanied the exhibit which went to Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, St. Paul, Minnesota, Boston (my hometown) and New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. While touring with the exhibit I learned Russian and a year later visited Russia. After the exhibit closed in New York I headed to Berkeley where I met Doug...and you and your family. 

I remember the little chair I painted for you and am so happy that your own children sat in it. It's so thrilling for me to know that a small act of love and creativity had such a long-lasting affect. I'm so pleased that it inspired you to pass along your art to other people. To me, that's the beauty of art, and more importantly friendship - that it can be shared and handed along as a gift to enrich someone else's life. I'm so glad that paint and colors and creativity are important to you. They are essential to me too. I loved painting my folk art for those 20 or so years, but now I'm creating big strong women. I'm wildly crazy about making them - and they make me feel ageless. Did Doug send you the link? http://mariefoxpaintingaday.blogspot.com. 

I imagine you have those Fuller genes for music. Doug has a fabulous voice and there was one song in particular I always asked him to sing for me. Oh, a girl loves to be serenaded.

Doug did send me a photo with the mural in the background. I recognized Matt, other than Doug and me, but not the other people. I'll have to look at it again - to find your mother.

I'm writing to you from New England where my husband Bob and I have returned to after almost 5 weeks in California looking for a house. We found one high up a hill near Santa Monica - where hawks fly and there's lots of parkland for hiking. We are so excited to be returning to California. Where do you live? I'd also love to know more about your life, your children and husband, your other adventures.

My Father gave me this when we moved into our house. He has been watching over this fondly since 74? and we keep it with the same affection on our dining table usually filled with nuts and a cracker... This bowl is in perfect condition stunningly thank you for such a sweet note and much thanks for Doug forwarding my question. ♥
I posted this as a response to the facebook post, I thought that you and Doug would be thrilled to know that we still have it!

I used the little chair to death with my three kids...and it would always inspire me to create many of the same ideas for other people. In fact, I'd have to return the girl bonding favor for being the most artistic person in my past- full of the values that I love, paint and colors!

I have a photo of you and Doug and Matt and my MOM, and Kenny I believe in Albany with most of the Mural in it!  :)

Did Doug show you that?

I have seen your web site, via uncle Doug, I am delighted with your style, Folk art and music remains my muse.
